Mine was held in county for about 6 weeks before getting transferred to federal, but he has yet to be sentenced by the court. I know with the holidays they don't do much so they could be waiting to move her after the new year. Federal is incredibly slow, so don't be surprised if she's in there for a couple more weeks.

My daughters case took months before her sentence. She was held in a detention center prior to the sentence and then taken to county. None of it makes sense and it seems each case is different.

I think you are right- each case is different. My fiance has been in county jail for 8 weeks and has not been sentenced. Our attorney told us it will take another couple of weeks before sentencing, and then a few more while probation prepares a report, and then another 2-4 after that before he appears in court for the formal sentencing. So several months of waiting, while very frustrating and difficult, is not at all unusual. In our case, it is considered time served, and I tell myself we're getting one day closer to his release date every day, regardless of what we know now.

He was but that was because he was in the marshals' custody.

We're in Idaho and my mother has been in County for the past 14 months. The Prisons are just too full. The IDOC even allowed for the classes (MRT, Anger Manangement, Drug rehabs, ETC ) to be conducted while they are in County (which normally only are done in the prisons) They had too many people that were coming up for parole but hadn't had the chance to complete the courses required before they were allows Parole.

I'm sure this is not the standard for other states, so the wait may be longer than expected for where you are. Hopefully your daughter will have better luck since county tends to be much harder on the Families.

My husband was in a federal detention facility for about 2 months before he was sent to prison, once he got there he was in lockdown for a couple of weeks so they could process him and give him a bed. It is a process and it is very frustrating, I hope you don't have to wait much longer, I know it's hard to get any information, they tell you it's for security reasons, which is a joke. Do you know if she is going to be sent to a local federal prison?

Hi, we think she will go to a female federal prison with a medical and drug rehab mostly likely in a different state than where I live. She made her request based on a boyfriend visiting her which may or may not happen. He will be living in a different state too. He has missed most visitation days in county. You can imagine I'm a frustrated mama.

Could you explain what happens during lockdown?

Lockdown means just that there lockdown, no mail,phone or visits. Some place might let them have mail.

Thanks, I received a call yesterday from another girl in county. She said my daughter was moved in the middle of the night. The bop site just says she is in transit.

Any thoughts on how soon they will post her location?

They will update the site with her new location after she is already at the new location. It usually takes a couple days for the information to be updated.

Thankfully her location has been posted on the bop web today. It's not the place we expected and several states from me.

Any idea how long processing takes and she can call?
