I've just received "the letter".

Prior to this, I've just given him the odd deposit for phone calls and stamps or gift for Christmas and Birthday of money on his books.

Obviously inmates spend their deposited allowance (money) from friends and family on canteen, phone calls and stamps. And, obviously they have the hustles inside to compensate for any extra they need.

Do any of you have an allotted amount you give your man/loved one inside every month?...like an "allowance"? If so, how much do you think is a "fair" amount.

Did you ever feel weary about it?

I used to give him a lot of money and I never thought about it til I wanted to go do something and didn't have money too..one day he was talking about something and he was hinting at me giving him..I said ask your parents lol. I gave him a good amount of money...when I stopped giving him money I feel like that when our relationship started to really become a issue..the only thing is I would be careful how much you give because he might expect it all the time..If you want give him some say I will give you $20 a month once that runs out I can't give anymore.

I actually have a friend who needed money he didn't ask me but my ex actually was telling me about it so I sent him the money bout month or so later the guy actually sent me a check to pay me back...I wasn't expecting anything back..

I used to give D $140 every month wich was the maximum amount he could have.

I put $60 for our phone time. I buy 60 JPay stamps for $10 and split them with him. Anything else comes off of his books. He works at least 30 hours a week.

When I found out they needed money for paper so my son could write me I gave him $55 dollars thru Jpay. And I do feel weary about it.

I suppose it all depends on the person the situation and how much you trust your loved one on the inside.
Had a very long talk in visits with K regarding this issue yesterday. He made me feel at ease and more comfortable with the whole money situation.
He doesn't smoke, drink or do drugs. He's a clean freak and tells me that hygiene is the most important on his list at the moment and it's expensive.
Who can argue with that? lol I love my geek.

I give him $20 a week for commissary. 3 books a month (That's all he's allowed) $30 a month for video visitation & We don't do many phone calls because we do video visitation everyday but I do keep money on it if he every needs to call. He works in the kitchen so he gets extra food. He tell me all the time how well he is taken care of compared to others even though I feel like I don't do much.
