As far as your daughter, I am sorry. Went through that too. But maybe that you found out early, you can nip it in the bud somehow.
Yes things just keep happening at the same time. Oh believe me I have went through many things with my son and my fiance. I guess they say it makes us stronger. I don't want to be THAT strong.
I think skipping one house payment had to be done. We need to feel we are doing everything we can. In our state I believe it takes 6 months of non payments before they even start eviction notices or foreclosure. So you can get a payment in before that, right?
Court is awful.. now you have to go through it with your daughter too. Maybe they will give her community service, and probation, which wouldn't be too awful. Maybe. Put a scare into her and make her think. Oh that's a tough one to say when talking about teens, I now.
So sorry you are dealing with all of this.
Just keep going one step at a time...you are the roll model for all of them. That is what I kept telling myself to stay strong.
The mortgage will not foreclose on 1 payment, they will just harass the shit out of you...to add to your stress of course.
Everything always DOES happen at once and I also think with your daughter she will be put on a no further trouble clause..where if she doesn't get in trouble for a year, seeks counseling, the charges will be dropped. Its a bonus she didn't have drugs in her system.
I would (if it were me) talk to the court advocate and tell them the situation with your husband in jail...and how you feel your daughter may be acting out. That may give more leniency.
She should be ok with a public defender in her case its a minor charge. My son had a public defender for robbery (breaking into cars) and attempt to harm (he had a butter knife) and was high as a kite and the kid said he threatened him with the butter knife...my son isn't like that..but he doesn't remember the situation so he could have...
The sentence for those 2 crimes was 25 years if convicted by a jury. He was on a no further trouble order already. The public defender made a deal..6 months in prison, no trial and 10 years probation. That is what he did :(
