I think history is ok but now we are promoting crime some more. At the taxpayers dollars once more. Who ever thinks up this stuff is sure making a killing. I am not ok with it. It is bad enough we all have to deal with this on a daily basis, where the others who are looking at this museum think that this justice. When in fact in a lot of cases justice has not been served appropiately. The cost is insane as well in a time when we are barely being able to fill our gas tanks. I think there is way too much exposure to crime and not enough exposure to how we can eliminate the problem with better solutions. The programs on T.V. is bad enough now we have buildings that are promoting more bad behavior.

i think this museum will be a hit b/c i do research involving kids and many of them say they hope to be crime scene investigators, forensics, cops, etc. I guess with all these shows on now, its not surprising. Although I am a huge fan of SVU, I would not go to a museum like this now that I have a better understanding of what the inmates go through. I agree that crimes have consequences but i disagree with many of the types of consequences and tactics used. Mostly though, I disagree with the idea that this museum lets children 'try out' how it feels to commit particular crimes, like the computer hacking, safe cracking, etc that huskersky pointed out. i also think that its wrong to let kids take "target practice" against famous criminals. i dont know, i have mixed feelings about this musuem given what i read on the site, they discuss how it is supposed to be educational and deglamorize crime, but instead it seems like it gives only one side of "criminal justice" and glamorizes it and contributes to stereotypes about inmates, the 'justice' of punishments, and the glamorization of particular crimes like hacking, shooting, etc...
i DO think that it will be a success though.. this is something that interests a LOT of people this day and age, esp given all the crime shows and increased technology. back in the day the only crime shows i remembered was "Cops" and "america's most wanted"... now there is a show for every single step of a criminal process. the reality show "jail" really bothers me too, the people locked up are made a joke of and there are a lot of injustices that i've seen on there on the behalf of the police and i hate to think of the crap that goes on when the camera is off, if thats what they show when its on.

What I want to see is the Forensics part of it, I find Forensics very interesting, and if I had the time, energy, and privacy, that would have been my next online degree, I agree with you to a point about what their offering to allow you to do in the museum,but also its history of how Crime & Punishment came about, and the public needs to be educated in order for changes to be made, why would it be a mockery, its history on crime, so should we stand back and be ignored, no, maybe some thing like this would open up the minds of people that just do not understand us in a whole. Just my thoughts. And why would the State of DC open up a museum that is inappropeate, sorry spelled wrong, for children? Some one said there was lesson plans behind this. I for one do not have the means to get there, but if I could just go for the Forensics part of it, I would go. Look how many cases people are set free because of DNA Evidence, or what about helping to find missings persons by reconstruction, or just to see if a person is who they say it is. This museum seems to have it ups and downs, but I still would go if I could afford to. I'm wondering what our loved ones would say about this. I'm going to ask Freddy, and a few of my friends on the inside. Sorry if this has offended any one.

i dont think it's offensive at all that you posted this. i think it is an interesting concept and i think a lot of people will go, the only thing is that i think that there isnt a whole lot of information on the website as to how things will be portrayed.. thats the only concern i have.

I think it would be very interesting. But that may only be because I have a direct bloodline with a famous, wild west outlaw!
