Reading ihatewisconsin's recent posts has helped me so much. This is temporary. It will end. He will come home.
When my fiance was in prison, I had many days I felt just as you are. When I kept busy, during those time periods I could get by fine, but as soon as I had an alone minute, whether it was out in public, work, or anywhere, I did feel sad, doomed, alone, etc. At home was the worst. There, I really missed him.
What you are feeling is quite normal. I am sorry you are going through this. Nothing is normal until you get them back.
Mine is home now, and everything has been so much better, until today. Then we became a NORMAL couple again, where sometimes you just fight, and can't stand looking at each other. Then I felt sad for feeling that way. BUT if you remember back to when they were home, you didn't always get along with them every single day.
In our lives we have different things that cause us to feel sad and down. Having them in prison, you just can't snuggle up to them and try to make it better. That's depressing too.
Just remember that he will be home sometime hopefully soon, and then life will go back to normal really fast.
You wish it was now, you can fantasize how it will be. And it will be GREAT to have him home, as it is for me to have mine home. But after awhile, you don't think so now, but there will be days that they do tick you off, they do upset you, and then try to remember the prison days and let the things that are upsetting you, just go away...
It is a time now for me to reflect on how sad I was with him gone, and try to forget he just acted like a complete jerk at work to me. HAHA the honeymoon period just expired for me. We are now back to normal. And I can even be thankful for that.. as not wonderful as it was tonight, fighting... at least I have him here.
My point is, we all have things that are upsetting. We all have reasons for sadness, and anger, fears and loneliness. We just have to adapt, cope and go on. I hope you get through this ok.
Everytime I hear more bad news, the pain in my chest comes again and I burst into tears. I know I need to stay strong and I keep telling myself I'm doing the best I can.
This forum REALLY helps and my heart goes out to all of you who are deaiing with a loved one behind bars.
Angeladam: his realease date is march 3 2015.
I read some of his journals from treatment. He would write daily. The days I would be coming to visit he would say how excited he was that I would be there soon, how much better it made his day.
Before he was incarcerated, we were not getting along. The drinking was terrible. It was a daily thing and he was a monster sometimes. He acted like he hated me. But I knew who he was when sober, so I hung in there ONE MORE TIME, I had told him once arrested. And ya know what? It is paying off. He is so different. Does not want to drink. Wants a good life. And is so sweet and thoughtful and loving now. ( Except for an occassional crabby day.. haha)
I think if he hadn't went to prison for the 3 years, we would not be together today. We would not have made it. It taught him alot this time. He took it seriously. He took seriously all I sacrificed for him, too, and saw that not every guy in there had a woman who gave a damn, and some had no family that did either.
He saw me drive through blizzards and tornadoes to see him. He saw the sacrifices I made to stick it out with him. And yes we became closer than I ever thought possible, because he went to prison.
It was not a good way to have it happen. But at that point, probably the only way it would have.
Breaking cuz I know he wants me to come its 6 hrs one way we have agreed that we don't want our son visiting him in prison I know it's gonna crest drama with my family if
I tell them I'm going so that is the only thing I haven't been able to do but not because I don't want too and what's killing him more is its contact visits... I'm afraid if I go I will have a harder time once I come bak but I know I need to for him at the same time I don't like making anyone unhappy and I know going will cause drama with my family! The last time I had a hug or kiss from him was nearly 2 years ago and I have only seen him 2 times. Reading this (what i am writing) makes me feel worse that I haven't been there!
