Hi, I am new to the group and hoping to gain knowledge and support. I am a mom of a veteran (Adam-31 yrs of age) who has PTSD. He has been incarcerated for over 3 years and we are going to trial in March. I am hoping I can get and give support to this group. Thank you
My name is Chris and I was a practising attorney. As I told another woman, your best bet is to reach his attorney on record and talk to him/her. As a veteran, you have a good case to establish PTSD if he complained of problems of PTSD to medical staff while he was on active duty. If not, then the claim of PTSD will not be heard with much authority.
1) His alleged crime is it federal or state jurisdiction?
2) Has he been evaluated by a private psychiatrist that you have paid for?
3) Does his attorney have this independent evaluation?
Thank you for your time and effort. We have public defender. It has been established that he does have ptsd by specialist who will be our expert witness. He has been evaluated by 2 specialist within the last year in a half. We are scheduled for trial March 12th. Been postponed many times for 3 years and 2 months. We are having 3 military buddies flying in from 3 different states to testify and served with him in Iraq. It is state case. Most horrible thing I have ever gone through in my life.
