My dad

My dad has been in jail for 3 weeks now and it's be really stressful. Not hearing from him and not being able to see him. And him being charged with motipal things and. Being a teen going through this is really stressful and slipping into a depression and anxiety. In just lost

Try to breathe and relax. I know this is all very stressful and scary but you are going to need to find some ways to cope with the anxiety and depression that can come from these kinds of situations. Have you wrote to your dad yet? if you aren't able to talk to him on the phone or even if you are it can be a good idea to write out how you are feeling or anything you wish to say to him. you don't even have to send it but it might help to try and get these pint up feelings out. I know its hard but you are going to want to find healthy ways to cope writing, reading books, talking to people you trust, working out, watching movies. healthy things to keep your mind off of it. You can also always post here your feelings. Thoughts and prayers to you <3

Stay strong. Maybe keep a journal that helps me a lot since my fiance has been locked up. And if you ever need to just talk and vent let me know im here

I went through this with my dad multiple times.. I know that it feels like your world is crumbling from underneath of you and it won't ever get better. I know it feels like nobody understands what you're going through. I would definitely say to write to him and tell him how you feel. That made me feel a lot better with him being away.. I know it's hard, but while he is gone, you have to find a system and relationship that works for you. It's not the same as having a dad that is home but developing a relationship with him and a system to keep that relationship is really important.

I know this post is a few months old but my dad (rest his soul) did a couple of back to back blocks of time when I was younger. I think the important thing is to maintain regular contact. If not in person then by phone or letter. Letters and e-mail are a nice way to stay in touch if you can't meet face-to-face.

I can remember visiting the prison, getting things for my dad from the vending machines and talking to him about regular stuff. He did crafts in prison and I still have some of the things he made us all these years later. I know he must have done something bad to end up there, but we weren't put on the earth to judge. If he's safe to be around, keep contact. It will make things a lot less awkward when he gets out.
