Got power of attorney and took care of some of my son's business. Was able to put some in a savings account for him and some he wanted me to give to his uncle who is a single Dad and needed help. We try to "pay it forward" in our family.
Also put money on my son's account for commissary.
He is in protective custody, so we have to use secure attorney rooms. There's only two and sometimes they get taken quick but today a fella was going to use one but had to leave so I was able to get in to see my son.
You know how sometimes you carry around a prejudice until someone shows a small kindness, then you're reminded that we're all in this together and we're just trying to cope. It's kind of humbling.
My son was not in a good place emotionally today. Some days he's just really tormented and it's hard to see him this way. These are the kind of days where I just listen but don't allow him to beat himself up. I tell him he's so much more than just the crime he has committed and he still has a future. This is all a long hard process and even though he's been forgiven, there are still consequences. He knows all of this of course but I'm trying to be strong for both of us. I'll have another gut wrenching cry soon. I know all of you have experienced this where you want to tell some hardnose C/O to try treating your-fill in the blank-like a human being. My son was an innocent little boy 20yrs ago and I'm still a Mama Bear! Blessings to all Families-Westies
