My brother is in prison for 2 years. We are really close and now I feel like I have no one to talk. Plus yesterday was his visitation day and his girlfriend was supposed to go. She never showed up. I'm glad about that (she's a drug addict still) but I knew he was disappointed. She keeps getting his hopes up that she'll either write to him or go see him but she never does. I called her one day and told her to stop playing with him. She told me it was none of my business. He's in prison because they were selling drugs together and, when they were caught, her lawyer blamed it all on him. She had all charges dropped against her and by brother took all of it.
I just miss the days when I could just walk upstairs and talk to him. I could tell him anything. Sometimes we would talk or he would show me these hilarious websites. I realize now how much more lonely I am with him not here.

Sorry for your lonliness, but also know that he is probably lonely as well, and you are being a big help to him by being there and keeping that relationship alive. Letters help lots and if you can visit that is extra super. Glad you found this site for support, wish you well. Hugs. Roberta

I am sorry about your brother but I completely understand. I have a couple things to say to you about his situation, ok...first of all, it is only 2 years. As much as it stinks with him being away, time really does go by fast, fortunatly faster for you...not so fast for him but that's how it goes. You will miss him and it will feel like he's gone forever but know that he's not. You guys can definatly make up for the lost time but while he is gone stay strong! Visits, letters, phone calls, pictures, they are all good and he will appreciate them. Also, later in life he will remember how supportive you were of him which will only bring you closer together. Second, I know it may seem that he got a really raw deal because of his girlfriend not getting anything out of it but maybe you can look at it in a differant way...I mean, look at it like it shows what kind of man he is to take the blame and do the time and not be so bitter. It is understandable for you to be angry with his girlfriend but you said it yourself when you said they were doing things "together." whatever they have between them is exactly that, between them. He will figure it out on his own, believe me, he will have plenty of time to think about everything and he will see what she is doing for him if anything at all. the point is...you stay strong for your brother and for yourself. In the end blood is what matters! Try to keep yourself occupied so you won't have to think about it so much and before you know it, he will be back home gettin on your nerves like most brothers do! My thoughts are with you, good luck!

Two years seems like a long time, but as Msweeks said, it will fly by. I just want to pass on what was said to me from my son in the big house. He told me to quit complaining about what had happened. He deserved to go and needed to go because he does not know what would have happened if he had been let off on probation or otherwise. He told me he had done so much stuff that was undercover that he hadn't been punished for, that he could not complain about the two years. Soooo, my dear, when they r selling drugs or etc, so much is unknown to us about what all they have REALLY done. Probably the same with your bro. He will be home soon, and things will go back to normal (I hope) and a much needed lesson learned. Sometimes, things really do work out for the best, even if at the time, it does not seem so. Hang tough friend. Shell

I know what you mean because he already tried to kill himself by overdosing on heroine before he went to jail. He's probably alive now because he's locked up.
