isn't it nice to be able to send something that will be truly appreciated?! I send Michael books periodically and he loves it. A month before every holiday, I print out pictures that he can use as inspiration...to draw cards for that holiday, that he "sells" to other inmates. I know it doesn't sound like much, but he's always so thankful. He doesn't want me sending money and never asks for much, but I know the prints become very valuable once he makes 30 cards and sells them off :) Just doing a little something to brighten our guys' day seems to make us all so happy

Yes it really is nice. The cards thing is a good idea. Yes my guy never asks me to send him money or asks for anything at all really! So it is nice to do something that he will truly appreciate! I cannot send any books or ANYTHING! I know he can get magazine subscriptions but I have no idea where to order those from but there are no vendors I can buy stuff for him or anything I have to send him money and he can purchase things though.

I have to get the books and magazine then send them into my man it costs a bit but the prisons hear won't let us do the subscription thing. We also have set amounts we can give them each month as in money, how many books, magazine we can send.

here in ohio, it doesn't matter where we get the magazine subscriptions from...we just make sure the mailing address is exactly what we would write on an envelope, and there's never an issue...although, magazines could be rejected if they're gun or drug related or pornographic.

It will be nice for him to have his own tv. It not only fills up many hours of their boredom, but makes them feel human. That they own something that's worth something. Think about your days when you have nothing to do. At least you can turn on the tv and fill up hours with shows, or find out what's happening out in the world. They need that too.

It takes them out of that prison world for awhile and lets them think about something else. Gets real important to them. They can look forward to watching their favorite sports game, or tv show. Give them a purpose. You know what it's like to be addicted to something like the game shows, or soaps, etc. At least he could know at a certain time of day, he got to see what he wanted to. Or get tired by watching a show. WE used to watch the same shows at the same time so we felt we were sort of doing something together. Weird, but when they are in there, anything you can sort of do together counts.
