Kids to visit

My husband has been in jail since the 19th of July and I just found out that he might be release on the 15th of August. My kids have been asking about him and I know that he is missing the kids so bad. I want to take them to see him this Saturday but Ive heard people tell me to not bring the kids coz it might not be good for them I am so confuse. Here in San Francisco, I read in the website that they have a Parent-infant visit, Ive yet to call them to schedule a visit so I dunno what the set up would be like. What do u guys suggest I do? My kids are 7 years old, 3 years old and 4 months.

Well my personal opinion 4 months old won't care, 3 year old won't understand, and 7 year old will see it as andventure if that's how you present it, but ultimatly it's your decision.

We take our grand daughter to see her dad and they both look forward to it. We have been doing this for 3.5yrs now. We believe it takes the secrecy from it all. After all they really don't know when they are so little but it would help if your older child knew a little of what to expect. Here in australia you cannot go to the toilet during a visit. If so it goes to non-contact or ceases.
My suggestion is to go.

my husband is very playful with our kids my only concern is, I am not sure if he is going to be able to carry, kiss, and hug the kids Im pretty sure my kids will come running to him the minute they see him, how hard its going to be if they are not gonna be allowed to even go near him. I have heard of contact visit, does that mean that he will be allowed to hold them????

In most jails prisoners can have children sitting on their lap, etc. Just no running around :). Good luck with your visit!

My kids go to visits to see their dad. I take them every time I can. I think that they need to have the contact with their dad. However, It is a personal decision. I think that it might be okay if you don't take them since he will only be in there fo a short time. I take my kids because they need their dad and because he needs them.

In the state of California an inmate who has a contact visit usually has one for 6 hours unless he's in a county jail ~ I think it's only an hour visit in the county, either way.... children under the age of 7 are allowed to sit on their parents laps, so yes your husband will be able to hug, kiss and hold his children.

I'd call the visiting sec of your hubby's location and or check out their website.

I've been dealing with the prison system for 11.5 years and if my daughters dad was getting out and staying out in a matter of days I would not be taking my kids to prison visits, nope, I wouldn't.

I went to visit my husband last Saturday. I was not sure if he would be ready for the kids to see him there so I went in by myself first. I can see how much he misses d kids coz he always become teary when he mentions them. He said he wants to see them
But although its a contct visit where there is no glass between us its no touch policy. When i was done with my visit, i decided to go again but just bring my 4 month old. He was very happy to see her and my baby keep giggling upon seeing him. We didnt stay too long because not being able to carry hug and kiss the baby is just killing him. But its a wonderful feeling seeing him smile and i know he was very happy to see our baby.
