jsut got sentence and not sure where he is going

Not sure what to expect. My son just got 10 years and is in county jail right now. They said he will bemoved to re a place called kirkland. I am praying that he will be put in minimum security and that he will be as close to home as possible.Does he ask for that when he gets there? Someone told me him or i needed to apply for a hardship??? since i am his only family to try to get him closer to me. Anyone with any knowledge of this?

read the post titled TX Transfers.....maybe not th right state but probably pretty much the same guidelines most prisons.

While I was looking for this I did run across posts saying that some states do not do hardship transfers anymore....but I sure would try...you never know when that may change or in your situation someone may listen.

I will be praying for you. and the transfer to go thru.

Is your son in a Federal jail? If he is the rules are quite different. In federal you can request a prison but that doesn't mean you will get it. I wrote to the Director of Ffederal Prisons in Texas when my husband was moved 2000 miles away and not to a Medical Facility like he was supposed to, it did no good, I was told that in 6 months when he get to request a transfer they will take me request into consideration.
Well 6 months have come and gone and my husband is still 2000 miles away. Once they are in the federal system they are out of our hands, Sorry
If I were you I would still try all they can do is say no, and keep on fighting I am.
