Is he in county? Can he call everyday? Illinois prisons have Securus technologies. It's $4 for 30 minutes. It's still sort of a rip off because if you want to talk to them longer they have to call right back and they charge another $4 even if they call back for a few minutes. My man can only call like every 10 days so $30 lasts me a month usually. Good luck in your search!

He is in a North Carolina prison. The phone calls are 15 min long and he can call as much as we can afford.

I used consallhome and saved a lot of money when my husband was in reception. Paid a monthly fee for 300 minutes. You may still have to pay a connection fee on his end just to make the call. Actually $4 for 30 minutes is not bad. What I do now is have a cell phone with a local number to the prison he is in so we pay $1.00 for him to connect each time he calls and then just the monthly fee for the phone, which is better than what I was getting through conscallhome as they didn't have a local number to his parent place.

I got a cheap phone put it in his area code and prefix. That way it wasn't long distance and it was 35 cents a minute.

You can also get a google voice account, I think its called. Same principle. You use the area code and prefix in the area his prison is in. There too, it's long distance. You can actually put it on whatever cell phone you have and keep its number, but if he dialed the assigned number for google voice, it would roll over to that number.

We use Google voice, but it still costs about $3 for a 20 minute call, plus a $5.95 fee every time we add money to his phone account. I wish I had kept a tally of all the fees we have paid in the last year. It's ridiculous. We pay $3.95 a week just to put $10 on his commissary account. If we put more than 10, they take half for restitution fees.
