I'm not sure why I do this but I find that I have been doing it ever since my guy went to jail. I used to rush home as soon as i got out of work but now...I stay late. I clock out and then...I work off the clock..Helping my company with my freetime... I don't want to go home to an empty house perhaps. I have three kids but I have been feeling less than adequate in being a mother. I am trying but I just got on sleeping meds. I may need other meds for my frequent fowl moods. I seem to be fine at work..however, I still have lots of nightmares at night..every night..so I'm not getting much sleep yet.. I have a 2nd job starting soon. I thought I needed more hours to work and keep busy. Its 3rd shift on the weekends... I guess I'm worried that I may be overrunning myself... Or maybe that I'm taking on too much too fast... I don't know what to do with free time... I should be spending it with my kids but I feel that I let them down... I feel sad all the time... my boyfriend and I did lots with my kids together. We did a ton with his kids... We became a family. Now everything is quiet. Nothing feels right without him home.... I'm not weak. i will survive this like all of you... I guess I was just questioning why I stay and work....what pushes me to just work and not want to go home? I guess I'm just a really good worker... lol.. thoughts?

Maybe I understand part of this. My first husband was Air Force, and when he went on TDY or deployment, I couldn't sleep. I'd get my kids to bed, but I couldn't sleep in "our" bed by myself. I'd stay up late reading or watching TV until my body took over my mind and fell asleep. Maybe it's an association that we have with the people in our lives and where we think they're supposed to be.

I work a full time day job, more than 40 hours a week, and an overnight job, 32-48 hours a week. I feel antsy when I have a day off. I think it's easier to stay busy and occupied than to have free time to think about what's happening. And I want to make enough money to get a place on my own. So I work both for the money, and to try to distract myself from my sad personal life.

I dread having a day off... It makes me sad and I just can't be sad.. I'm sure I'm strong enough to withstand the duration of his time away... I'm more worried about him than me.. what if he comes out of this a different man..one with demons from his time spent in there... I need to stay busy as well. I think that that is really what it is.. Glad to know I'm not the only one..

Since my husband has been gone, I find that I really need to stay busy. It is at those times that I am not busy, that I really get depressed and find myself in tears. When I work, I focus on work and don't really have time to think about other things. Like everyone else said, it is a distraction away from our "other" life.
