Families of Prisoners Support Group
This community is dedicated to families that have been disrupted by prison. Having a loved one incarcerated or having been incarcerated comes with its own unique challenges that require support and understanding. Join the group to find others who know what you're going through, and to seek advice or share your experience.
There is a Families of sex offender's group on DS to join, but many on this group are in that same situation too and there seems to be more people who post and comment and understand. Try us both.
It is sick how people will believe anything. They don't realize that any day it could be them or someone they care about or love being accused of the same thing.
I am still angry and I didn't know him when it all happened, but it still affects our life 23 years after the accusation was made.
Once they get charged, no one believes that they didn't do it even if they read the court transcripts about it. It's become a witch hunt, perpetrated by police and politicians with something to gain by going after them, even if they are innocent.
We met a man who had the same thing happen to him. His daughter started hanging out with a girl that was bad news. He forbid her to be with her, so the friend and his daughter both went to the police and said that he touched her. He got 8 years in prison, his family fell apart in every way, and then the daughter confessed that she lied and so did the friend. They tried to re cant their testimony but the court system was not willing to look at the case again and drop it all.
Since then his wife has left him, is bar hopping and the rest that goes with it, the kids don't go see him in prison, no one puts money on his canteen account or accepts his calls. WHY??? It was clear he didn't do it and they all should of been apologizing to him if they were involved, or if they were family or friends that had doubted him they should be down on their knees begging him to forgive them.
Every time a sex offender around here is released, they are in the newspapers and the news shows. It causes many problems that would never have to be in the first place.
I am sorry for what has happened to you and what you are going through and still will. It's hard on so many levels.
I think it's completely wrong to post their names and addresses unless the person truly was 100% guilty with irrefutable proof that he did it. That he IS truly a danger. Most cases they are not dangerous and didn't do anything.
Men can date someone and they may lie about their age. They don't find out til later how old they really were. The pare nts of the girl press charges when in reality their daughter was a willing participant in having sex with this guy. It sticks with him forever.
You said you don't know if he will have to register or not. I would think you could check it out somewhere within your state laws about it.
You will get through this somehow. I have been with my fiance 16 years, and dealt with many people, especially my family thinking he is a monster. I don't talk to the ones who are awful. I have weeded through the " friends" who really aren't friends anymore at all. You have to do that. Don't listen to what they say OR blast them about how you feel about their rudeness. Then LIVE, and love him. Work on making your life good again, together. And while he is in, don't let it get the best of you. I used to lay around doing nothing but cry and be depressed, then I realized that wasn't helping either of us. I got busy, fixed the house, moved, got a job, and just started acting like me again. They don't want us falling apart.
I will watch for you. Talk to me anytime. I have been on here for years.
There is a group on here called families of sex offenders its not a bad group and they dont judge the same as this group. People who do judge just dont get wht its like or how easy it is to just make up something to land someone in a a lot of hot water.
iam truly sorry tht this has happened to you. Hugs
Keep the faith, pray daily, & keep yourself busy. And remember, you've got friends on this site.
