Hi everyone,
My son had another pre-trial hearing in florida for a white collar crime he is accused of along with a co-defendent. The co-defendent apparently signed a deal for 30 months straight, no probation. I believe he was supposed to be sentenced today.
The prosecuter did not show up though. His sentencing will be next week on the 26th.
My son had an offer ready for a 24 split sentence I think, where you serve 24, and are on probation for 24, months. He has already served over a year in the pre-trial status so he would qualify for work release very quickly. His second offer he would submit to is the 30 stright months/ no probation.
The only thing he was able to do though was to formally make his offer to the court, because the prosecuter didn't come. Fortunately the other date was already on the books for the 26th, so he doesn,t have another 6 week wait!
This is so ridiculous. Does everyone go through this?

What a bunch of crap that the prosecutor didn't show up. Did he have a choice of showing up, or not? Of course not. What would happen if a person didn't show up to court, if they weren't in prison. They would have a warrant out for their arrest.
Was there any explanation for WHY he didn't show up? Probably not.
At least it didn't prolong anything. That's good. Just still another part of their little games they play.
I hope things work out for the best for your son.
This is the 5th month he has done this which has stretched this out more than 6 unnecessary months.
Personally I think he was down the hall scratching his B@!!s, LOL !!
That's gotta be more important than 5 court dates that are made 6 weeks in advance, right?!
Wisconsin, yes this time by chance it only prolonged it a week, Yes his year will count day for day, but if he was already moved along when he should have bean he earns good time faster and he may have already been on a work release program with his own job and allowance and personal cell phone and furlough time.
Therefore it's not funny anymore.. if you know what I mean, We need him, his, son , family and friends who haven't seen him in a year.
