This is a sad situation for you all I'm sure. In a way I relate because my husband was locked up when our youngest son was born. I would've given anything to have him there to witness his son's birth. I think it costs a lot for the jail/prison to send them to the hospital because they have to be with a gaurd and a lot of the prisoners are just not safe to bring into a hospital situation. Also I think that a lot of people would abuse the priveledge and use it as an excuse to do something when maybe it wasn't medically that important. I know it's upsetting to be one who really needs it and can't be with their loved ones in hard times, but I guess they have to draw the line someplace, huh?

I should add that my husband and I have both also gone through surgery without eachother's support while he was in. I know it really sucks and it feels unfair and inhumane!

I'm really sorry you have gone through this. The punishment of imprisonment goes so far beyond just being locked up behind walls. S.

IN NY IT IS THEIR DEATH BED OR VIEWING, THATS IF THEY GET LUCKY TO GO. THEY LET HIM GO SEE HIS DYING BROTHER, AND THEY LET HIM GO TO A BROTHERS FUNERAL. SORRY THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO YOU.

my heart and prayers go out to you.my sister was put in the hospital in december and was dignoist with terminal lung cancer and cancer in her kidneys.my son who is incarcerated loves her like a second mom.she's always been in his life.she wanted to be the one to tell him and she went to see him at visitation.it was very emotional.he told her that he was praying for her healing but if god chose not to heal her then he would pray for her to have longer time.it really amazes me that even though he is going through so much in prison that he is still trusting god.sometimes it just does not seem fair when a love one is sick and they cant be there.i will be praying for you.stay strong!!!!

My father passed away in Jan, a few weeks after my daughter went to prison. My daughter was very close to him, he was like her dad because her own father was never in her life. She was not able to attend his funeral, the chaplain at the prison said it was not feasible because of the distance. They normally only allow them to be there less than an hour & he said they just couldnt have her attend the funeral..She was devastated..It was so horrible to have to tell her he died over the phone, I was so afraid she would react badly & get into trouble. Luckily the guards saw how upset she was after getting off the phone that they let her go see the chaplain. I am so sorry you are going through this & I will pray for you.

Nixons grandpaw(who helped raise him might I add)died after Nixon was in prison fr about 6 months and they wouldnt let him go to his deathbed or funeral. They did allow him a call from his grandmaw telling him that his grandpaw was dying.I figured that when Nixon got out he could get his closure by visiting his grave but then they cremated him so....It breaks my heart that this man was like a father to him and he may not ever get the closure he so very much needs....XOXO CeeCee
