Oh this is so hard i decided to go to my mothers for thanksgiving early. But every time my husband calls my mother will talk under her breath. Say things like uhh or when i say i will be with you forever she will say until you divorce him. I have tried not yelling but i thought i had support from my family i guess i dont. So i had brought enough money to get there and get back but she made me pay for half the groceries so im stuck here until december 1st. So question how do you guys deal with this and the holidays that are suppose to be with family that judges.
I know it doesn't feel like it, but her concern is probably coming from a good place. She's a mom and clearly considers it her duty in life to make you see what a low down dirty dog you man is. Ha, as if they know our men better than us!
She's judging your situation by looking at it through her own critical lens. I'd just soothe her through it by saying she's probably right but you have to give yourself time to let this sink in and adjust before you can think about making any major life changes. Maybe try to talk somewhere where you can have privacy. Having your few moments with the person you love interrupted by such negativity can be heart-wrenching.
