Helpin my uncle when he gets out

My bio dad told me like last month that my uncle i looked up to like my whole life (who was my father figure) has been in jail the past 5 years my whole family lied to me about it but i was talking to my mom and stepfather a couple of days ago and they were telling me that when he gets out in about two years he will just go right back. I want to avoid that I want to be his reason to stay outta trouble nobody else in my family will help him. He is like my father because he always was there when nobody else was. I want him to do the things my father is suppose to like walk me down the aisle and dance with me at my wedding. I want him to see me graduate, get married, and have kids... I would rather him be there then my bio father or stepfather... I want to be able to keep outta trouble but im not quiet sure if its possible because my mom and stepfather are telling me he isnt worth it and he is just gonna go right back... I just want him around I dont want him to go back but i dont know how to help him will someone please give me advice? I want to know if I can help him stay out or if I shouldnt even try.....

I think parents sometimes try to protect their kids from reality, but it must have been a shock to hear that he was in prison. Why are they so down on him ? I don't know how old you are and how much you can help him. He will need help getting a job, a place to live , etc. Besides that, emotional help will be needed too. I wish I had more suggestions.

You are being a wonderful nephew and I hope your family comes around. Maybe if they see your actions , it will help them overcome their hesitancy to help him. Let us know how it goes.

The thing is im a 15 year old and im his neice there isn't much I can do but when he gets out I'll be 18 so maybe i can help him more Im not sure

Does he know you feel this way? Is there anyway you could contact him? People often times predict their own future, and if no one thinks he is worth it, or thinks he's worth their time, he will mess up again and do exactly as they are saying he will do. But if you tell him you have all these dreams for him to be in your life, maybe it will give him something to strive for... to achieve. Give him a purpose beyond needed to convicted again because those are the only people who care about him. Does that make any sense? Everyone needs someone to lift them up, and in this world its soo much easier to tear them down. Be his inspiration.

have you written to him maybe you should start there im new to this too but recieving my letters seems to keep my brother positive at least for now like i said he just went in a couple months ago.

I admire you for wanting to help make a difference in somebody's life, often times that is all it takes...I do not know what the circumstances are that landed him inside, or how long he's been inside, but am happy to know that he has had contact with you through letter writing and knows that you are there...sometimes those expectations that are expected of one is the exact thing that sets someone up to fail, but having one person who cares can make all the difference, just believing in someone is big...you have a good heart and I surely hope and pray that you are able to conquer your wishes and help this individual who means a lot to you succeed in the challenges and obstacles that may surface. Keep strong, again, I am in awe at your love for this person in your life. Hugs. Roberta
