I know I have been absent from writing, and offering support to others in the past 3 weeks. My AS is finally placed in His facility for His first term of 1-1/2 yrs. I have been educating myself on "prison life" and it is (for drug addicts anyway), a complete raquet...a joke...especially in the state of AZ.
Until the People of AZ get rid of "sheriff joe" of maricopa county, it will NEVER change. He owns many pockets. My "upsetness" refers to drug addicts and non-violent offenders only. My Prayers is for Hope that ALL Incarcerated loved ones have access to REAL avenues for recovery, mental health issues, and reform to maybe once again return healthy to life outside.(again... I am not talking about murderers and horrific criminals).
I added this page because arizona is SO unfair, I am sure other states are as well. I have also read about states which truly do take a large part of their budgets to reform the lesser offenders. Most states simply can careless about the "lesser offender, so long as they see a profit in revenues...I stop here as to not offend nor falsely accuse any state in our prison system.
Our country and it's politics are a laughing joke. PERIOD.

The justice system and all the people that includes do not care about mental health help. That would reduce the people incarcerated, then there would be less jobs for those people I can't say the swear word for. Prisons are an industry. My criminal justice book said it is. It makes money for the state. Don't be fooled when they talk about how much it costs them. Years ago, they got $350 per inmate per day from the federal government for putting them and keeping them in prison.
Then there are the prison industries that our guys work in, the prison's and the corporations they do slave labor for make big profits.
And we ask why things aren't fixed in this justice system? The answer is MONEY
People may hate Trump, but I like him. He lost his money, got it all back, and got richer, and he isn't paying for his campaign with contributions. Just his own money, and he says it like it is about any group of people that is taking our tax money, by getting so many things free while not doing any good. Just taking from us.
Trump is maybe the change we need. He isn't afraid to offend anyone. And I would bet he will have something to say about the corrupt justice system too.
Politicians as we know them are corrupt, awful people who don't help our country, but put it further in debt, and make everything worse. And people in prison are used as the politically correct things to go against whether it is right or not.
Unfortunately it wont happen due to the fact prisons are you here now only for money they don't care as long as there making money. If the guys go to the co's they look at them like they have two heads.....there not there to help there just well babysitters.

I shouldn't be surprised by anything anymore in our Country...and Wis...I will be voting for the first time in over 20 years and it will be my vote for Donald Trump!! I said exactly what you said!! He tells it how it is then immediately justifies his claims. It's about time someone in our political world took over the way Trump will.
Ok-so, I called one more time to the prison's visitation officer. She said the phone acct has to be approved at no cost for my bkgrnd ck and that because I am out of state, I can begin writing anytime. The 20 list is for physically visiting Him at the facility. I already mailed my first letter yesterday. Now-why did 4 different people including ADOC tell me 4 different things about writing?? Because they can I guess!
Such-I also agree with you on the programs incentives with the understanding that I am only speaking about non-violent drug and alcohol related crimes. Lord knows since most all of our institutions have been shut down due to unspeakable abuse of their patients, those with mental health issues are being placed in our prison systems-it's completely ridiculous. Why in this day and age can't they open these institutions up again and install camera/video surveillance and hold the employees accountable for any abuse they put upon the patient THEN...put the employee in jail.
Our gov. is no different than any other country we just are able to hide it better and make it all sound pretty! If only everything wasn't for the dollar our world would be so much more at peace.
