Girlfriend/Wife Legal Rights

If he gets sent to prison, will I be able to visit? We're engaged. Are there legal issues I should know about?

Yes, absolutely you will be able to visit!!! You will just have to submit a visitor application form and have it approved.

Remember what you always tell me..."let's not over think things too much". ;-)

Yes of corse you will be albe to see him just do whatever forms you need to.
Just know if you call his place asking about him they won't tell you anything.

Make sure he puts you down as Fiancee. Always refer to yourself as such. I know in my state this gets you more than "girlfriend".

in ohio you're a "friend" until you're married....but it doesn't matter...visits are all the same anyway

Check the rules and requirements for where he is at.

In WI you can go visit if you aren't married, except the first 6-9 weeks when they are in assessment and evaluation. A prison where they only allow family and spouses. Even living with them many years does not count. But most states do not have that idiotic rule.
