This community is dedicated to families that have been disrupted by prison. Having a loved one incarcerated or having been incarcerated comes with its own unique challenges that require support and understanding. It gets too quiet at night. I try to put music on but its not the same. I try to read or play a game or study but I can't focus. I miss him. I cry at night and I cry in the morning. I think of him often. He's in that horrible place. I don't know if he is ok. I am often worrying over nothing I know. I hate that he has to be there. He's not a violent man. He did nothing wrong other than a heated argument.. The scorn his kid's mother has has for him is hurting him at every angle. She loves being in control and right now she is viewed as the victim in his case. She's an evil being. I'd never do to him what she's done in a million years. I'm so glad I got to talk to him on friday for an hour. He had to keep calling me back but it was so good to hear his voice. I didn't cry . I proved to myself I could manage a phone call with him without crying... of course, I cried after and I actually smiled. I was on cloud 9 just from hearing his voice. A week of downward depression lifted at the sound of his voice. I think of things I need to do at night to help him. Things that I need help to achieve. Things that I need him here to help me with. I am strong enough to be here and wait for him no matter what happens... I just miss his warmth. I miss everything and even the things that ticked me off... I miss them all.. But I'm going to beat this system... they aren't tearing us apart. I can handle this. I will be here for him no matter what... waiting... writing him and talking to him. visiting whenever I can...I'm not going anywhere... The nights are long and the morning is harsh on the emotions but I still get up and do what I need to do... I fear the court dates that are coming soon... I feel like we are not prepared... I will be strong... or at least, I'll try to be...
Even my family just doesn't get it. It helps to know you aren't alone. Its like you read my mind. The court is the worst part. Hold that head up girly.
Yes, the mornings are lonely thinking about starting another day without them, thinking of them starting another day there. Yes, nights are sad without them. BUT your attitude just changed on here. You are starting to get it. Letting this system beat you won't do you or him, or the kids any good at all. YAY I am very impressed today.
You can't necessarily beat the system, but you can not let it beat you. If you let it get to you so much that you stop functioning, then everything falls apart, and then they have two victims, not just one. Right?? I am doing the happy dance reading this post. My god, so much more optimistic. Good for you!! ( can you see me dancing?)
