bring extra clothes just in case if clothes your wearing aren't approve I've seen people be turn away due to their clothes...nothing revealing

leave your cell phone in your car(this is a policy where my guys are)

some do not allow open toe shoes,flipflops ect....

go on prison website and look up their visiting hours and make sure he's allowed to have visitors and you are approved also look up their dress code....

be prepared you will probably cry I did first couple times when I seen mine....

Ok first off welcome to the group
make sure you know the dress code fo r the prison you are going to anc take a change just in case the co chang there mind on what you can and can't ware every place is different.
Have small change with you if there is a canteen oh and wash the money the sniffer dogs can pick up on stuff on money!
definitely have some tissue in the car for when you leave and dont look back when you go......that always made it worse for me.
no underwire bras....it sets off the metal detector so go the the crop or yoga top under your clothes.......i used to have set of clothing just for visits.
make sure you have your id you will need it and only take that and money (if you can for canteen or the vending machines depending on what they have there) and your car keys in with you.

Thank you for your responses. Unfortunately we got there and they had moved him from the county jail to a processing facility. :( I'm not sure where he is and still have not seen him!

:( no luck I did a search for on the Ohio department correction and nothing comes up! At the county level it is update every 15 min. They moved him yesterday I don't understand why he isn't showing

It can take a few days to a week before they officially "process" them into the new facility.

My son is in Indiana and he begged the CO to contact us to let us know where he was and they were kind enough to call us.

Ugh. He tried to call today but he had to hang up for me to set up n account and then their automated system called me twice with problems setting up my account so I still haven't talked to him :(

Try using connect network. That's how I set up my phone account. Hope that works.

My daughter is in Ohio also. I hope by now that you have found him. http://www.drc.ohio.gov/OffenderSearch/Search.aspx this is where I go to find people. He will be in intake for about 30 days then he will go into general population. He can have visitors once a month. It is the easiest to email them for visiting reservations. I tried calling many times and had to continue to hit redial for up to an hour before I got an answer. Research the http://www.drc.ohio.gov/ this site. all the small print and ends and outs. Make sure to look at the pdf files. They are strict on dress codes. No watches. the only think we can take in with us is a card and care keys. The card you buy there in the lobby. You can put money on it and buy food in the vending machine. We are also able to have pictures taken. Money for that comes off of your card. I have a pair of shoes with metal bar in the bottom for support. They set off the metal detectors. So do belts and some jewelry. I found that in Marysville for women that the people in the visiting lobby are very helpful. I go in with questions and they are very helpful. Not every one is but they are. Hopefully in the mens prisons you will find them helpful. If he ever gets put in the hole he can still have visitors. My daughters case manager lied to me about that one. When you find out where he is check the rules over and over. Each prison is a bit different even in the same state.

Y'all, this may sound silly but what I did to keep track of where my son is, I signed up with VINE. It is actually for victims of the inmate, but the moment that they moved him from county I got an email. And then again when they moved him to prison.

That one is great. We used to be able to use it, and they update it so fast, you knew almost the same day when they were moved. Now for some reason Wisconsin doesn't use it. Guess it's toooo much work for their staff. So now we go on W isconsin DOC Offender search. It isn't as fast.
