My brother was incarcerated in September and so far his health issues have been addressed, albeit slowly, but they have been addressed. His defense attorney probably gave us the best advice when he advised him to go get a full physical and update all his prescriptions for medicine and eye care.
In retrospect, it was great advice. First it gave us an independent baseline on his health. In the Ohio system inmates get a full exam upon admission but a second opinion is good in case they miss something. The fact that it is current is golden! Second, it will update the doctor's records in case they are contacted by the Prison doctor. Third it makes for a slightly stronger case if you/he can tell the officials "He just saw his own doctor a month or two ago and he did such and such...."
Getting in to see your doctor on short notice may be a problem. When my brother was declined an appointment in adequate time he called his doctor directly and explained the situation. The doctor extended his hours to get my brother in.
It's trite to say don't worry, but it really is sound advice. Worry doesn't add a minute to your life and does not help the situation. As they say in all the AA meetings, give it over to your "higher power".
Don't let your mind invent problems or what if scenarios. You will drive yourself nuts. Your mind can find a nearly unlimited number of things on which to worry and distract you. Try to live in the today. Is there a problem right now, today? No. Good take a breath! Now with that comfort put together a plan so it won't be a problem tomorrow either.
Best of luck!
