This community is dedicated to families that have been disrupted by prison. Having a loved one incarcerated or having been incarcerated comes with its own unique challenges that require support and understanding. Join the group to find others who know what you're going through, and to seek advice or share your experience.
It has been a journey. Our journey! One I went kicking and screaming all the way through! It has been the hardest time of my life! Without a doubt harder than any other time I have been through in 43 years. Being your mom has been what has gave me the strength to get up in the mornings and the courage to live day by day! Being your mom has kept me sane- when I thought it was not possible!
I'm so overjoyed, more elated than I can express, happy beyond words- that you are coming home Saturday October 4th! I will be there the minute you taste true freedom- when you get your handcuffs off, when you walk towards me, when you feel like you can breathe- really really breathe! and at that very moment I will breathe, the first real breath I have taken in a long time- a breath of relief! God is Good- All the time!
I have learned a lot during this journey. I have learned being a mom is truly the most important job I have ever had- or ever will have! I have learned to be your voice, feel your pain, and to never ever no matter how dark, give up hope for one second and to fight- fight like I have never fought before- like your life depended on it!
I'm so thankful you will be home in less than 72 hours- beyond all words! I looked back on what I wrote your first week in prison, and I made a promise to IDOC- I promised the day you walked out I would bring a team of lawyers to sue them for the inhumane conditions that prisoners in our state suffer through- I'm keeping that promise! The lawyer files suit this week- I will drag them kicking and screaming on their own personal journey towards change- because everyone should experience that once in their life!
In less than 3 days, I won't need to be your voice anymore- but know without a doubt, that for a lifetime and God willing ever after I will be your biggest cheerleader!

And I want you to keep us informed about your lawsuit. Wouldn't it be great if all of us could start lawsuits nationwide, AND Australia, etc, for the way our loved ones are treated. No one deserves to be treated as they are. Animals have laws protecting them from any kind of inhumane treatment but prison's seem exempt from these laws. It's time we show a united front, and fight for what's right?
I read that in the Geneva Conference ( I think that's what it's called) there are rules how prisoner's of war can be treated, and our prisoner's in the prison's in the US are treated against many of their laws. We can not understand how people can be allowed to be treated so cruelly in American prison's but we can't treat prisoner's of war who have done horrific things as bad as our people are. It's time to get on this bandwagon and start a major protest and attract attention. It could be anyone at any time in our prison's the way our justice system is ran.
Get some guts people like this woman is. Fight for what we know is right.
