I just read a comment regarding a case worker recommending this group to someone here. This makes me want to gently remind everyone to use your very best judgment when sharing personal details here. While most of the people here are trustworthy, honest, and respectful, it is still in your best interest to be careful with what you choose to share. We don't know who is reading this board.

You got that right. If they know about this site, it isn't a good thing. They could use it against us and them Don't trust anyone in their capacity. Never put your real names on here or anything that could steer them to your information.

I agree whole heartedly about protecting your information, however, it could be a good thing they know about this board and able to direct someone in need here to get help. Double edge sword.

A few years ago, somehow some of the inmates in there with my guy figured out how to read MY posts from this site. They actually had people they knew copy my posts. The guys in there read them, and left a copy of them under his door. He was livid that I would be talking to strangers about our situations. It caused a lot of problems.
If I had told certain things about his past, it could of got him hurt or killed.
We know that cops have the capability to also read these, and what we say could get them in deeper trouble.
Or if your person is a SO, it could get them hurt or killed.
I had to change my username so that these people didn't know who I was anymore. It was really scary.

Thanks for all the advice. I dIdn't realize it could affect them!
I try to keep my more personal journal posts to where not everyone can read them or private. I hope that helps.

Great advice, I had to think and read back to make sure I didn't slip.
You and Whata gave me a great avenue when you told me about journaling and make the setting for friends only, even there, I keep it nameless.
On another site earlier in the year, I removed my account as they found ex-inmates reading and commenting on the posts without identifying themselves as such. It was eerie. Ya just never know.
