You are saying that being a lesbian is your fault and something that you did. First, there is nothing "wrong" with being a lesbian. What's "wrong" is not accepting a person for who they are, the way God made them, especially your own child. All of this pain is not your fault. It is the fault of the people who don't accept you. Put this burden squarely where it belongs. Don't take it on yourself. You have done nothing wrong and you have suffered way too much for the intolerance of other people.
As a mother, I can tell you that we all have dreams for our children, but most do not come true. As grown-ups, we have to learn to live with that and adjust our expectations. Your mother may have wanted you to find a man and have babies, but that might not have happened even if you were straight.
My best friend's daughter married a man and was very unhappy. Two years ago she divorced her husband and moved in with the love of her life--another woman. Now she's trying to get pregnant through artificial insemination. So, my friend will finally have the grandchildren she always wanted. The only difference is that the child will have two mothers instead of a mother and a father.
I have another friend who was married for a long time and had two children. They ultimately divorced and he's been with his partner, a man, for the past 15 years, raising the children they both had before they got together.
Times are changing and the day will come soon when you will be able to marry the person of your choice and I bet that your mother will come around. You may even give her those grandchildren she dreamed of.
Meanwhile, please do not cut yourself or use drugs or alcohol.
Just like Nemesis, I spent many evenings crying on the floor of my old room and/or trying not to kill myself... but now I'm here and if there's any mom out there who'd like to give me a hug - please do :)
Being honest, I don't even really know what it's like to have a mother as my own mom rather acted like my sister or a friend while I was growing up and still does so... *sighs*
Thank you All for being in this world!
