today started out early but was actually going kinda ok...until I called my mom to tell her that I was going to risk everything to go pick her up tomorrow take her to my son's graduation ceremony...everything was going ok until she asked if my husband was going. When I said Yes, of course, she was like OH! well then there's no way my provider is going...I'm like what? why not? And she's like well no, there's no way she's going...you think I want her to go when he's going...you know I am ashamed....I don't want her to go.
by now your probably wondering what the problem is...well i'll tell you...this is the second time my MOM has hurt me and brought me to tears because of the man I feel in love with. She doesn't even know him or know any of the good or bad about him cause when I first mentioned him to her she asked me one thing about him and that was all she needed to not like him. What is that one thing you may ask?

If you can't change her, all you can change is your reactions to her.
my mom told me that if I loved someone from a different race, religion or background, I better love them twice as much because it was going to be twice as hard.
Just think, one day soon the whole world will be a huge melting pot and all this crap won't be able to exist.
do the serenity prayer, and go enjoy the event...your side of the street is clean and tidy, you can't fix hers.

a person is older there still is prejudice toward mixed marriages.
At this stage in your mom's life she isn't going to change so why waste energy on her.
