My name is Lili 42 years old eastern European female living in MA (US).
I lived with my American alcoholic, drug addict and mentally ill husband in Massachusetts for 10 years ... still with him from financial reasons.. (I couldn't afford to live on my own few years ago)
I wasn't going to alanon till recently. I was keeping it busy with getting legal documents, driving license, American citizenship, college degree, office job etc but in the mean time my emotional condition got worse.
I got prescription for Effexor and Ativan.. I take it occasionally when I feel like killing my self or need to yell or hurt my husband who I still live with.... I came to conclusion my marriage cant be saved.. so I am planning to move out in immediate future as soon as I find a trusty room mate in alanon to share rent responsabilities equally which would ease financial burden of being on my own (in the future ) a lot... Or a church, or a municipal social worker...
or perhaps you could become a live in with elder care
Being with people who are ill, can make us sick too. We all get crazy dealing with the insanity of addiction. That is why we all come here...1. to save the addict, which we learn we cannot do and 2. to save ourselves.
