Families & Friends Of Addicts Support Group

I wished that he knew how important it is to our son that he show SOMETHING TO HIM but he is stubborn, no matter HOW many times I have talked with him. He is a creature of habit. It just sucks.
He feels the kid isn't doing enough to get his stuff together. Well, try having a fed charge in your background, getting shut down job after job because of it....it isn't easy, I GET IT, but hubby doesn't.....
And hubby hasn't changed jobs in his life, so he has NEVER been on an interview and finds it hard to believe all these companies do all their applications online....LOL...oh my, he is also a technological midget LOL....no matter how I tell him!
But my son also realizes how he is and 'deals' with it. I know there WILL come that time when he will feel it, I can't push it, I can't make it happen, neither can our son, but one day it will when it's ready. Right?
Hang in there, they will work it out!
As for the 60 days- I would be happy dancing in the middle of the street. I would hug him so hard I would break his ribs and I would be on my knees thanking God so hard, that God would tell me- get up! There is no joy like someone on the road to recovery. I know it may be unfair but I see my son's overcoming his addiction equal in value to my daughter working her way through her master's degree. Both worked their asses off, and it took a long time. The only difference is that one will make money out of it.
you can't make anyone feel or do anything...and you know that already. So enjoy enjoy enjoy and he will work it out.... or not. It is not your journey.
I am so very very happy for you. I love hearing good news. Safe trip, and of course, we want a full report (like how wonderful he looks, etc)
I too am glad to hear the news for your son. Enjoy this time, enjoy YOUR time in your own life as well.
Hugs
He said that talking to me about it helped...and to be honest, I think I just sat and listened...but we did have a strategy of how we would be with our son.
Thanks for this post. It made us remember the first visit we had with him sober at his rehab and we both got all vachlemped. (choked up)
Hugs.
