Certainly worry can be a circle of thoughts that we get stuck in...and drag us further and further down.
Write or text your son...send him a silly card, and tell him you love him and will always be there for him if he needs anything...how proud you are of him etc...and put in 10 bucks...{then you know he will read it! ;) }
Then, when you have a moment, try to spend time thinking positive things...I actually light a candle and give thanks for everything - even if it hasn't happened yet....and when you get stuck in the negative thoughts? say stop. Katrinka says look in the mirror and tell yourself stop. I just sing a song that is a little girlscout prayer, and it makes me change direction.
Breathe. Breathe deeply and slowly and think "good things in-- (on in breath) and Bad things out"
if all that fails? allow yourself once a day to sit down and think the worst hard thoughts for 10 minutes...and if any crop up the rest of the day, tell them you will deal with them at the appointed time and push them aside.
Don't get stuck, get better. Hugs.
