I remember my frst visit after he was in rehab. I thought he would say sorry for all the pain he had caused and he didn't . he just acted like everything was fixed. so that was hard for me. I shouldn't have had those expectations. my son later told me that he was disappointed with me because I was still worrying and he was all better! this was 2 months into his recovery :) they need lots of praise and encouragement and not to look back. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. I am proud of him too and I never met him. so happy for you all xoxox

You have the right idea...just be grateful now...don't think about what CAN happen. Think positive....so good to hear positive stuff.

My son is doing better...but still on Methadone....but progress not perfection. Enjoy your son and be sure to let us know how it goes!

I will be thinking of you this weekend. I am so happy he reached 60 days. My son was full of himself then...only later did he start to not have life be all about him...but others.
I am so happy.

LOL...thank you all! The weekend is going GREAT! He has eaten sooooo much and is so excited to be here. He's been a delight to have! LOVES the place. We did some shopping and talking and he certainly has his plan in motion. Transition housing and a job he starts on the 6th, He went over what his goals are and what he needs to accomplish in priority. I'm just amazed after all he's been through in just the past few months alone, he is amazingly focused on the multiple things he must accomplish at once. Not overwhelmed, not scattered, just focused. I keep hugging him every time I walk by him though! LOL....can't help it. Even made him watch The Good Witch last night....LOL....And he sat through it. LOL...then told me it was really a corny show. LOL...but he was gracious. Now he and his SD are doing the Sunday chores.

It's been emotional but warming at the same time! He is enjoying just sitting on the couch, watching a movie, playing with the dog, hanging out on the porch watching the wildlife. I asked him if he wanted to go to the mountain for snowboarding and he said he was just fine hanging and relaxing. LOL....Don't know how easy it will be dropping him off tonight. But looking forward to the next visit which will be a full weekend visit.


Feeling so VERY blessed! And praying that his road to recovery continues and brings him peace and happiness!

first I am positive...as a active sadly to say addict that someday I will be ..god willing .in the scenario your son and you and family were this weekend.for me when that time comes ..my vision as the addict in recovery..would want...... when I see my family for the first few times . it .would be like this.i would my family without adoubt to be so proud of me and would need to here from them that they are pleased proud ecstatic of course I would need that ...ahhh but i know that of course they are .as an addict I would that would be a given but still would lift me when they actually say it. But .be careful as the mom or dad or whoever ....but be careful not to over do it and make me feel like you wernt proud of me before or make me feel that I didn't here the the fist time ..mom you will no when he needs to here those words ..figure out when and how to say them make it to him as important as the first time when he came home don't over do it mom unless it neccesaryif you no what mean,,,When reading this please remember that I am a active addict I am hoping soon to be and experience wha t your son has achived...he is great ...iam sorry for the spelling .and it takes me a long time to write this ...I have more to say if you are reading this let me no I have more insight..god bless you ,,,this help me give your son a pat on on his but for me I am prould because ..I don't know I AM JUST PROUD I more to say what I would expect during recovery ...but am tired I will check in later

I can totally relate! I remember the first visit home with my son and I prepared all his fav meals.
