As I've posted my 35 year old came out of jail..made him go to a shelter (ugh). He coped to using in jail everyday for a year. Scary thought how that happens. Thought he had a year under his belt but nope. So he's done detox. Almost finished with 28 day program in a week. He's off to a long term inpatient. He isn't mandated to do it. Says Mom been doing it my way and it's not working. I'm doing it your way. Uh huh.
God forgive me because I want to believe that. This isn't our first rodeo. This is 21 years of this. Mostly I block him out...detach. I've been so hurt by him I can't deal anymore.
Why do I forgive the one who is clean and doing great almost 5 months now but can't with him? I feel one is genuine and one isn't. I think I'm stuck on the crime he commited of robbing someone instead of something. I'm not sure.
I hope in time I will learn to trust him. Learn to like him. I love him...but the like part is buried deep.

never give up hope...but I am sure even HE knows that you are just tired of it all.

I remember about 5 years ago in my birthday expecting him to call. No matter what shape he was in he always called me. That year he didn't. Next day I kept calling him. No answer. I called every hospital. No one fits his description. I had to ask my middle son to call the morgue. I couldn't bring myself to hear come down here. How horrible it must have been for him.
What a relief a week later to get an email from the jail because he couldn't remember my number to call. At least he was safe. I think then at that moment I was never the same.
