My bf has been drinking again and got hit by a car mirror while riding his bike today. Not sure how injured he is and he won't go to the hospital. On top of that he is suicidal. I call his mom for advice and she says call his therapist. He has only seen this lady once in many years so what good can she do over taking him to the ER? He is flipping out over the idea of me calling an ambulance so I won't. I don't seem to be able to convince him to go to the hospital...he said give me 2 hours. I guess I just have to let it be. But his words of it will be all over tonight are blasting thru my head. Not only is he an alcoholic he is bipolar too. I'm so scared.

when my ex would threaten suicide I would call 911, they would go check on him and if they thought he needed to go to the hospital they would make him go. i suggest you call 911 and tell them.

But he threatened to run if he knew I called them. :(

Call the ER and ask them what to do or you can call the police and ask them, my daughter is also bipolar and a drug addict i called the police on her once she locked herself in the bathroom and told us she was going to slit her wrists they came and took her to the ER themselves and kept her for 24 hours. I think that would be your best bet to call the police. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

this is not your problem... you should be allowed to live a normal life, have a normal day free from drama and suicide threats. he drinks, he gets himself hurt, he flops around the house threatening to off himself but also says not to get him help or he'll run... this is not your problem to fix, you are a normal person, not his therapist, there are people who are trained to deal with this craziness and you are not one of them. hand the reigns over to someone else. this is not your job, it is manipulative and selfish of him to own you like this. call for help.

If you feel your in a threaten situation call 911,, most likely when one talks suicide ,,, that does not mean they will do it,, if he is out of control,,, then control the situation , you will not Beable to control the person,,,,

I know I can't force him, I have just been trying to encourage him and let him know he is worth getting professional help he desperately needs. Just hard to get thru to someone when they are so depressed. Police are coming by to take a hit and run report. I won't tolerate his actions towards me when he is drinking but he is suffering and all I want to do is help and protect him. Ultimately it is his choice on how to live his life.

I for one always believe a person when they threaten suicide, chances are he is just tryingt o let you know how depressed or sorry he is, and is not really planning on doing anything, but don't call his bluff, you'd feel like shit if he actually did try to hurt himsaelf and you didn't listen. I always believe them and that is why I don't respond, I just pick up the phone and call 911.
