In light of he recent events in Boston, and for my fellow runners. I am heartbroken about the tragic events, the lives lost and the horrible scar that will be left on Boston. But while watching the news I witness the amazing heroism from people of all walks of life. Mr. Rodgers ( showing my age) would always tell children then when you are in a scary situation to look for the helpers!
There are always helpers in life, that come out of the darkness to be by your side and that is exactly what happen at the Boston Marathon.
Everyone on this site whether you know or not are the helpers, the people who when our friends are struggling offer a welcome, or need a voice of reason, or just need someone to acknowledge they are there, we are the helpers.
Each one of our addicts if they embrace a 12 step program, or individual therapy are strongly encouraged to give back, and help their fellow addicts, they too are " The Helpers". So when you are struggling, make a point to go and help someone. Thank you all for being "My helpers".

As a fellow runner, this hit home for me as well as so many others. Excellent advice. I always try to remember the old proverb, "If you want to help yourself, help someone else."
There will never be a shortage of opportunities.
