my daughter i23 herion addict,,, I can't tell you what to do,, but I can tell you how we handled the situatrion,,,, for one,,, get yourself into a nar-acon, al- anon meeting it helps to realize your not alone, second,, it's great your your son wants to stop,,, but to he come to you with this problem, or did you find out about it,,, sounds crazy it does make a difference,,, if he really wants to quit,,, unfotunatley no one or anything can help an addicit but them wanting to quit,,,
for your own sake,, get has much education on herion,,, it's a horrible drug,, and the addiction is even worse... Your on the rigt track about not believing an addicit, becasue they will say things you want to here, don't be surprise if he goes on binge in the next couple of days,,, the key is do not enable,,,, tough love does not mean not loving, it means you love them so much, that you refuse to stand by and watch them destroy their lives,,,,thehadest thing I had to do was ask my daughter to leave the house I refused to hve my house open,,, so she had a place to sleep when she came down,, unfortunatly,, 30 day programs,, really is just 30 days of not using,,, it does not make them clean,,, they have to learn to cope with life without using,,,, the drug is just the sympton of the addicition,,, the drug numbs them from whatever the issue is that they can not deal with,,,, I'll pray for you and your family,, it's a very frusturating rollarcoaster of a ride,,, we are all here for you,,, please don't hestitate to ask anyone of us,,, we all know, what your going, through,, how your feeling,,,, Promise yourself, that you will not let your son's addicition or recovery,,, becme your addicition,, it happens so easily,,,God bless you
We only just allowed my son to stay with us
A couple of weeks ago. It's a long story but since he has been using heroin he has lost his girlfriend and his son it's all just been a mess and his dad ( my husband is his step father) has enabled him this whole time and then he deserts my son. We had our suspicions he was using some kind of drug but we didn't have any proof. He came to us and asked us if he could stay at our house cause he had no where else to go so we let him and a week later he tells us he's addicted to heroin. So I hope he excepts this help that is put in front of him because I don't know whether he knows this or not but he has a long journey ahead of him. I have read just about everything there is to read on heroin and it's the devil that's for sure. I pray for your daughter and family to I hope this nightmare will end with great results.
You, like me need to work on your self as well and your hubby. The news you just found out is life changing! Im sure you are angry, disappointing, worried all of the above, so joining this group is a great first step! Keep me posted, you can always message me too!
The second bit of good news is that he confessed and asked for help. That, too, is pretty rare.
I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Keep coming to this site. It really helps.
