she's in jail... again

my cousin has really ruined our family and now my aunt is wanting me to write to her in jail, but the only thing i want to put in these stupid letters is how much i want her to just get off drugs and stop stressing out and letting down the family. we have a sick granddad that is going to pass soon and if she isn't careful she will miss all of it and not spend any last moments with him....i really don't know how to take all this and cope with it.

Jail is a 4 letter word for sure.
I would write down exactly how you feel and send it to her...it might save her life...and in addition....make you feel better...

I'm sorry about your Grandad....Grandads..and Grandmas are so special...don't let this "cousin" trouble you .....HE is most important right now :(

Write whatever you feel you need to. No need to protect an addict from the pain they've caused.

If you would like to write to her, put down exactly how you feel. If you don't feel ready to write to her, then don't. It is not your responsibility.

Yes, I agree with the others, this is an opportunity...meanwhile, you aunt should try and get some rest. she knows her daughter is safe, sober and she probably hears from her more often now than when she was out running around.
also, this is not YOUR problem. it isn't even your aunt's. It is only hers. and loving them or getting mad at them doesn't change much...BUT you might be just the thing that reaches her.
my son said the letter from his sister reached him...and they don't even talk. (for years while he was a drunk, and even now, 6 years later, they only visit if they have to at one family occasion a year!)
So....take care of you.
