This week was my sons 25 th birthday. He is a twin so it was the first birthday that they didn't celebrate together. we had a Skype candle blowing party . I was Of course a little sad because I miss him ( him being in Florida) but I know that right now it is where he needs to be to focus on his recovery and his life( he celebrated 10 months sober last week) on Friday he was going out with all of his friends ( all in recovery) first thing on Saturday morning he sent me pictures, everyone looked great, beautiful smiles, and they all look like bright new shiny pennies. When my son called he told me how 32 of his friends all came to dinner to celebrate his birthday, and he proceeded to say " Mom" I had the best birthday ever, all of my friends came to celebrate with me and we had the greatest time. When I told my husband we both just cried. He is truly learning to live a sober life with a great group of friends all supporting each other, all learning, and all giving back to each other. I couldn't be more proud of him and it made me realize that he is truly responsible for all that Happens in his life. Thank you all for allowing me to never give up hope.

Your story give me hope that things can turn around. Drugs have affected my family in such a way that i feel hopeless so many nights when i lie in my bed. I think of my brother who is 24 and an addict. This is not the person i grew up with. Its a stranger to all of us. I just want my family to be back to the way they were. I want him to realize he needs help. Your story really is uplifting thank you for sharing it..
