That posted too quickly. I wanted to add, "but, don't be surprised if you move into a really nice neighborhood and find out that there are 2 or 3 drug houses there, too. Drug addiction is everywhere, maybe even more prevalent with rich people because they have money to afford the drugs. Redneck, hillbilly, or filthy rich and powerful............drug addiction is ugly, frustrating, disturbing, anxiety causing, crime causing, deadly, and menacing to everyone it touches.

just wanted to say that not all addicts are caring sensitive intelligent souls who lost their way, because of drugs.

I found this funny! I was married to a alcoholic racist redneck! Best thing I did was divorce. I do understand what your saying, but addicts come in all types. White collar, blue collar, rich or poor, addiction does not discrimate. My first was a mean, racist, redneck, always found fault with everyone else except himself. Second husband was nice but still selfish but not a racist redneck.

If you take drug addiction away from a close minded, judgmental, lying person-you'll be left with a close minded, judgmental lying person. If you take drug addiction way from an honest, open-minded person, you'll be left with an honest, open-minded person. The addiction causes them to do things they wouldn't ordinarily do and believe it or not some of them are very ashamed of their actions. Just my opinion.

I did some research and have to speak up for the rednecks and complain about being lumped with the hillbillys. According to wikipediate, rednecks are poor, uneducated farmers from southern states. Hillbillies are all the same thing (originally thought to be from Alabama) but without the geographic limitation anymore and more closely assocaited with West Virginia (most southerners don't claim West Virginia and perceive it as above the Mason-Dixon line which makes the hillbilly addict a Northern thing). Technically it was a border state, but it withdrew from a confederate state to become a state so it kind of chose the northern side in that way.

But back to the main topic...Wikipedia, however, adds the additional characteristics of drinking whiskey and using firearms to define hillbillies but not rednecks. So I think the use of pills or alcohol would make them just hillbilly addicts while having those traits but without the need for alcohol would make them rednecks but not addicts...

I suggest you do a littel research to find out how wrong you are. I am sorry ,but your statement makes me angry. Its because of so many people with the same impression on addication that you share that make it so hard to fight this deadly diease that claim over 100,000 lives every year from all walks of life. I would suggest you go to youtube and search theemptychairshow to begin to educate yourself. Please if I can help in any way to help understand about addication send me a P.M. Philbaby, I understand how you feel, but I really think this is a difference of where you live or don't live. I am originally from CT and after I married I moved down South. I have lived here for over 30 years and there really is a big difference on how people think. This is why I found this subject funny, because I was married to a redneck and it does seem the majority of his redneck friends drank and spent every weekend at the honky-tonk. I really think unless you live here in the South for some considerable amount of time, northern's would never understand how different southern's think. Just the other day a congressman from Louisiana was back peddling from his statement of voting out of office minorities.
Bhamguy you do have a valid point as to demographic's LOL although it seems like here in Mississippi some do not know the war is over and has been over a long time.......oh wait, that's right Mississippi just ratified the 13th amendment. I mentioned this to a few people that the amendment had not been ratified a couple years ago, but no one believed me!
