My husband has been clean for a year now from Oxy. His reactions to things and events seem so over the top to me. I am not sure, if I am being overly sensitive, insensitive or these reactions are really off.
I texted my husband on Wednesday afternoon from work, asking if he would like to go for a walk when I got home. He responded positive and said yes. When I got home, he was just returning from soccer practice with my 8 year old son. I said perfect timing, let me get changed and we will go for a walk. Then I turned to my 8 year old and asked him if he would like to go for a walk with us. He said, yes and went running to take off his cleats and come for a walk.
My husband looks at me and says I can't believe you just did that. I thought you wanted to go for a walk with just me. He said he had been thinking about topics to talk about all afternoon with me that were light and I proved once again that I didn't want to spend time with him.
I told him sorry, that I didn't think it was a big deal to invite our son along and I didn't realize he had these expectations around a walk. He stormed off, saying how angry he was with me and it was going to take him a while to get over.
I ended up going on the walk by myself and when I was returning home he was walking with my son. I stopped and said "hey, you guys decided to go for walk", he replied, "Yes, because our son waited for me and you didn't"
I went home and we didn't speak for the rest of evening.
Am I being insensitive?

I didn't even respond to him.
maybe you should turn the tables on him, and tell him you are unwilling to play his game anymore, and he should think about where he is going to move out to when he gets back from his trip.
this is too draining.
I read some article about narcissism, and maybe that is his deal...
who knows.
anyway, I could not live in that kind of soap opera.

Addicts are selfish and only see their side and their feelings.
I had to really think about this because I don't sugar coat stuff and wanted to give you my honest opinion.
You are NOT the bad guy. Nor are you insensitive. The family suffers in addiction. What the heck is a walk to help your son heal too.
