It is too bad that you are having to see your parents like this, year after year. Dont let their manipulations get to you - they are just looking for someone to enable them so they can keep having the money and favours come in. Sadly, maybe they will need to find themselves in financial ruin to wake up and look in the mirror
There are so many similarities to your parents and mine! My mother and her husband are in their mid seventies and doing the exact same thing as your parents!!! What I want to know is what the heck happened to them that they would act this way in their seventies!
My mother has become so distorted in her thinking she actually views herself as a sex object and can't stop talking about herself in ways I find so darn embarrassing.
I don't enable my parents. But I have siblings who do. I have flat out told these siblings I am not subsidizing our parents alcoholism and charge it lifestyle.
There is an Al-Anon group here at DS I am a member of. It is not very active but you may want to check it out just in case you find something there that is helpful.
At any rate, hang in there, don't become an enabler, and take good care of yourself, you are worth it.
