Hello all my friends, I have been a little disconnected only by email, but not by prayers. We were hit here with Hurrican Sandy, and the devastation is horrific. The Jersey Shoreline is demolished beyond anyones comprehension, no pictures can explain the devastation. My heart is broke, because the shores that I have spent my summers are no more, the boardwalk where I do my daily runs to clear my head of the clutter have drifted out to sea.
So many have lost their homes. We are without power, the gas lines are insane....
but through this all my son celebrated 9 months sober. I am so happy for him and I know it's bitter sweet for him to watch what is happening from afar. He said to me Mom watching all the news is like when I was using it's just a mess.
I am asking if my dear friends can divert their prayers for a moment to everyone in NY and NJ that we can get the assistance we so desperately need here quickly. There are over 2.8 million people without electric, trying to keep our spirits up.I am thinking of everyone, and you are all always in my prayers. hugs, your friend Dee

I love the analogy of what it's like when addict is in the mist of their storm,, 9 months sober truly is the light of hope that I will continue to keep lit

Here in NC we were spared this time but our hearts go out to all the folks who were not....

God Bless your son on 9 months sobriety!! Thats a gift noone can take away from him, he earned it.

No one in my family in NY, CT or NJ has power, but my mom (82) and her husband have a generator...she says the neighbors come over with their coffee pots in the morning.
My brother expected to lose his house, and did not. Miracle. and everyone is safe...
so we count our blessings and we repair, rebuild and go forward.
