It is so difficult not to get our hopes up and form expectations when our addicts make any move towards recovery. My ex husband recently relapsed and was removed from rehab and sent to jail. when I heard I was so let down... which quickly turned into frustration with myself because I thought I had left all of that behind... the expectations... not that we shouldn't hope... of course... it is so difficult to explain... and so difficult to find that balance.

She and her family are in my thoughts. I pray that we can all be well and happy in our lives regardless of if our addicts maintain sobriety.

oh i am so sorry to hear that...what a long struggle this has been for her..i will pray for kim and her daughter. she is our friend and we feel her pain right along with her..

Dee I too spoke to Kim and she is such a true inspiration to many of us, but you are right she really needs us now and I thank you for bringing it to everyones attention.I wish there was more i could do for her at this time I guess as long as she knows how we feel about her and her situation she will find strength in that. She entered on her own. She left on her own. I am believing that she will enter again on her own.

This world of addiction is a tragedy, and really should be exposed,and dealt with, but that is a whole another red tape matter

For those living, loving and dealing with an active user,, please set boundaries for yourself, as well as the addict,, saying no,, does not mean you stopped loving them, or gave up,, it's simply means that by giving "in" to the addict,, it feeds their addiction,and quite frankly putting the bullet in their head,,,

Through this darkness, I continue to shine the light , and will be standing at the finish line with open arms,,

Please continue to pray, not just for my daughter , but for all those addicts that are being held captive, that can break the chain of bondage

Yesterday , I learned that the recovering addicts of 3 of the parents in my Nar-Anon group have relapsed within the last 2 weeks. Then I read the post above about the relapse of the daughter of a parent in this group. I went to bed feeling hopeless and defeated. Then today I read Cardinal's reply. I felt ashamed for losing my resolve and her strength gave me the strength to keep my spirits up when I visited my addict son in jail tonight and communicate hope instead of distress. I'll be praying for all these parents and their addicted children and for hope for all of us.
