Later on, I called my mother. She sounded depressed and actually, spaced out. I asked her time and time again if smt happened but no, nothing had happened. No excitement for the wedding, no words of support, nothing.
Seems like you're giving yourself a valueble present. That gives me hope that my mother can do the same thing too, even if our situation looks like a dead-end.
I wish she could just take her mind off from my brother. True, we don't really know where he is or how he's doing, we suspect terrible things, my parents wait for his phone calls like a thirsty man needs water. It's draining. How long can one hold?
For all these reasons, I wish she were happy for me, but not for my sake. She needs a break and so does everyone and anyone affected by the addiction family disease.

You mothers go through such heartache it's like a thing out of this world. If there is the slightest of opportunities to have your heart smile, focus on that. You, like your daughter, deserve a break, a time where you will breathe freely, no matter what.
