My suggestion is that YOU do not sign anything. you are not married, but even if you were you don't have to be responsible for the cost. there are places he can go where he can work to pay for the cost. he can get on a list for one of thsoe places, maybe do outpatient.... if he does need a loan of some sort, stioll don't signa nything... this is his thing... I know we want to help.. but it is a HUGE finanicla responsibility. My ex-husband went to rehab three times and still uses.. thank GOD I never signed anything ebcause he now he owes thousands and thousands of dollars and he got kicked out of his last rehab facility but still has to pay them.

addiction is a very difficult thing to kick... I don't want to be pessamistic... but most people have ot go to rehab several times before it takes... not that it can't be done in one visit... and not that even if they ahve to go 20 times it's not still worth it if it helps them quit... my point is that it doesn't have to be YOUR burden to take on. look into all of the options. I also suggets that you get involved in Alanon or some kind of support group for relatives and friends of addicts, becaus ethat really does impact how well recoveringa ddicts do.

This is the problem many addicts face. You can check in your state for state funded programs and do some research on rehabs to see which ones are better then the others. State funded programs are on sliding scale fee. Otherwise you are left with Christian type places like Salvation Army. I agree do not take out a loan, or sign anything to get bf into a rehab. The success rate of addicts quitting first time around is very slim, and you could be left footing the bill. On average, addicts go to rehab three times before finally quitting. My ex went to about 8 or 9 I lost count.

Over the past 5-6 years we (me, hubby & insurance carrier) paid in excess of six (6) figures toward our son's treatment and NOTHING worked. So take the advice given don't sign anything. Instead use your efforts to find a state-funded program or voucher system to get him into a long-term (180+ day) treatment facility that offers aftercare and possibly a sober living option when he's done. Too many times when addicts get out they go back to living the same life as before which includes picking up the same old habits and life-style.

after rehab a halfway house might be a goo doption in order to keep him in a healthy sober structured environment

Thanks for the info. And no I will definitely not be signing or paying for any of this for him. We have already talked about it and I won't even pay for his outpatient treatment or ASAP. He has done the salvation army before and said it was useless. Not positive if he did 5 days at a particular facility or just knows about it. I'm hoping that this time he will have enough reason to work harder at staying sober. I don't have my eyes covered....I know he probably will set back. As long as he tries I will support him.

If he is bipolar, community mental health may be able to help. Just a suggestion.
