Well this is the 2nd time in a year and a half that my son overdosed. The first time he was in his room and his father found him and called 911. This past Saturday morning I found him and after cpr and EMS arriving, he ended up in ICU on a vent. He has just been taken off the vent and is very, very lucky to be alive. My husband has a heart condition and this has not been good for any of us. I feel like I have aged 10 years in the past few days. The second day, still with the tubes running everywhere, I didn't know if he was brain dead or not! I was able to communicate with him and he was crying. I was asking him if he had enough and he was nodding yes, are you going to change, "yes", don't you want to be happy and live a normal life, "yes". He has herniated discs and mixed percocet (his drug of choice - not prescribed), with his anxiety meds (xanax and valium). Yesterday, after the tubes were removed, he wants to know if he will be getting pain meds at home. I thought I was going to faint. He keeps telling the nurse how much pain he is in even after they have given him the meds After everything he has been through, I see the selfish addict attitude slowly starting to creep back. There will not be a third time because I don't think he will pull through again. I am so disappointed, depressed, disgusted and just plain sad. I don't know what to expect when he comes home!

Due to my increased paranoia, anxiety, and a panic attack over the weekend, my psychiatrist has put me back in a full dose of Zyprexa until further notice. Every time I think I'm getting ahead something happens and it's back to square one. I knew he was gonna do this but I can't help feeling disappointed. It is what it is.

I know its hard and I know it s easy to say but I think that you need to put yourself and your husbands health first.
It is so stressful isn't it but we have a life to live too.
sorry I don't have any answers I just wanted you to know that your not alone and others are suffering the same problem. good luck
There are episodes of Intervention on Youtube that are very good... Perhaps you need to raise 'his bottom' and not let him back into the home... Big hug for you and a blessing...x
if he wants it.
I have no real advice, just deep, deep sadness at what he is doing to himself and all of you. I am so very sorry.
Big hugs
I have family members who I know have true back pain and take meds some more progressed into their addiction than others.
