As I watch my daughter, walk away to her destiny, and into the unknown, I once again had to surrender her to my Higher power( which is God), the couple of days we did spend together, hopefully left a impact on her soul, as I sit here, reflecting I realize that I can't help someone that does not want the help I can give, will she turn herself in, UHm, I can't answer it's not my will, nor can I do it for her,, what I can do, is be there for the end results, whatever that maybe,,, I told her that my love for her, will always be there, my hope for her will continue to remain strong, her destiny is her choice, not mine,,,

Of course I'm sad and heart broken, I thought her reaching out she was ready, so the outcome I anticipated is still in the works,,
Those couple of days, I was able to hug, hold and love on my baby girl, I cherish every min of it,, I don't know what the future holds,

Don't be sad,,, celebrate the time I had with her,, keep the light of hope shining,,, I put my big girl pants on, some lipstick,, and I will be waiting,,,

The world of addiction, is surly not just about the drugs,, it deffinetly is a mental disease,,

So my peeps,, lets put some dance music on!

so glad you got to be with her even if just for a couple of days! that's all you could have done...let her go her own way...but it is so frustrating and heartbreaking not to be able to help when the person is unable to help him/herself! i really think if our addicts knew how to beat their addiction, they would. but you're right, it's a mental disease, and that is not so easily overcome, not without a whole system of treatment which i believe is so overwhelming to them that it stops them in their tracks. that compounded with the legal issues most of them are carrying around becomes an insurmountable obstacle for many of them. it's easy to say "just start over and turn over a new leaf" but for so many of them the past follows them wherever they go, clean or not, sober or not. it takes a herculean strength to overcome these obstacles. so as i pray for us parents of addicts to find the strength to make it through each and everyday of our life without giving up, i pray for your daughter and my son and for all the daughters and sons out there to find the strength to make it through one more day without giving up. May God smile upon those of us who grieve and all of those who suffer.

Kim I'm so glad you had those days with her I wholeheartedly hope and pray that it did make an impact too( I believe it did )Somewhere deep inside Katelin knows you love her and always have.You have the strength of a thousand men.i know how bad you want her to get well and I am so so sorry that as of right now she is not but I choose to have hope that she will . You will all be in my prayers as always. Love ya Dee

Sweetie, you are a model of Hope and Grace! Katelin knows deep in her soul how much you love her, and you were able to physically show her during those few days... Praying for you all as the next days unfold. (How did Ava do?)

I read a piece that is on peace ( my new mantra):
Peace: it does not mean to be. In a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.

This is my prayer for you loved one.. Dancing with you..

Honey, I am so sorry for the pain you are going through with your daughter. You are so strong....I wish I had your strength. I was remembering something my mother-in-law (may she rest in peace) once told me. " When they are little, they step on your toes, when they get older, they step on your heart." How true.

Well, let's all put our big girl pants on, our lip sticks and dance.

Mothers of addicted children live in a never ending nightmare. It took me years to be able to know when to let my son go and try to find his own way. He still struggles and so do I but, he knows his choices are up to him and that I can't save him. He must save himself. Today is his 36th birthday. He's behind on his rent and his phone has been turned off which is an indication he has slipped back. All of us who have children with problems know a heartbreak that we wouldn't wish on our worst enemy. I know how you feel and my heart goes out to you. Stay strong and know there are others who truly understand. God bless you and your daughter.

I admire your attitude. I can't seem to get to that place. As I sit here reading, my sobs are uncontrollable. My son came close to dying last week of an overdose and I thought that would have been a turning point in his life. Unfortunately, it was not. Since then, he has lied, lied, lied and has taken over the house with his addiction. I cannot help him if he is refusing treatment. He cannot get rid of his demons on his own. I am afraid I will have to put my foot down and have him removed. His behavior is destroying my home and my husband has a very bad heart and cannot take it anymore. I don't know what else to do. He goes to meetings just to please us and then gets stoned and is all over the house like a crazy person. I am so full of hopelessness and despair. He is putting us all in a very bad place. I don't know what to do.......
