So after going to get Justin yesterday so he would not have to go to the homeless shelter after waiting TWO hours my son was released to me. We went and got his medications that I am keeping with me at all times and doling out. My friend the social worker called me and was appalled that the hospital had treated Justin like that. It was very clean that none of the staff had even attempted to find out anything about my sons addiction or anything else. I was given the supervisors direct line and I have called her to file a complaint. Not just because they treated me like crap but because they treated my son with a total lack of care or compassion. It was completely and utterly disregard for him as a patient and as a human being.. I AM PISSED. I HAVE ALSO PLACED A CALL TO THE JOINT COMMISSIONS BUREAU, and the patient advocates group. No one especially a person with mental illness and or drug addiction should be treated like this. Today I went to court and signed a petition to become Justin's guardian so this will never happen again. I also made an appointment with Social Security to get Justin on disability so he can receive insurance so he can get into a treatment program and get his meds when he needs them and see doctors when he needs them. I am feeling much better. Justin is here with me and I am going to have to watch him but he needs me right now and in no way do I feel that I am enabling him. I am just trying to help him receive services he so needs and if its this hard for me can you imagine a drug addict or mentally ill person being able to do this?? So pleaSE KEEP US IN YOUR PRAYERS I am still working on getting him into long term residential drug treatment......
