If you can, try to let go. Even if he decides to get sober, he should do it in a detox/rehab, or whatever programs are available in his area, not in your house. Your house is not a recovery program and the chances of him succeeding are pretty much null. Recovery from drugs is a very serious process and it's his responsibility, not yours.
I had a BF like that, I obsessed over him until I almost lost my mind... I was in so much pain... When I had enough pain, I was ready to let go. I couldn't take it anymore.
think about it... You must have left him for a reason... remember your reasons. Remember that unfortunately, the person you were married to, is long gone. This isn't him. And who knows if he will ever be that person again. If you can, ask yourself... how long are you willing to wait? Lots of hugs to you...
I know it's hard and it hurts, but please seek counseling this never ending cycle is not good for you at all.
God Bless, Good Luck.

RUN RUN RUN AND DONT LOOK BACK .DONT TAKE HIM BACK...LOOK FOR SOMEONE THAT DOES NOT HAVE THIS BAGGAGE AND BELIEVE...IF YOU WANT TO BE WITH SOMEONE....LOOK AT THEIR PAST BEHAVIOR BECAUSE IT IS THE BEST PREDICTOR OF FUTURE BEHAVIOR...
I am shocked that you are even considering it bec as a listener ,I can see someone that will drain you emotionally, con you, manipulate you, and lie to you and go right back again to using.
YOur life is worth more than that. YOu may be lonely but that is better than being exhausted with a addict and that is what life is like with them.....
if you dont have kids with him...please dont.
go to alanon and tell them thisstory and see what they say....
remember all the reasons you let him go...he is still that guy....absence grows fondness and we forget all the junk in the trunk that drove us mad...........
my advice.....dont do it....and love yourself more.....remember....we can not change what we dont acknowledge.....and i think you are romanticizing your relationship hence he used when he was with you, with her, with a stranger, and with himself....users are masters of charm and manipulation....that is why they can go to woman to woman so easily but they never last...it is him...not them.
well i hope i did not hurt your feelings but it is easy to be drawn back in with fantasies that are not reality.
