Today has been a really hard day for both me and Krista. We met with her lawyer so he could brief us for Friday when we go to court and fight for joint custody of Chace. We still have a lot of work to do Krista has to get all her tox screens so that the court can see that they were all clean. Her ex is claiming fhat she abuses every drug under the sun including Colace (which is a stool softner) For the past year she has only had 1 bad test and that was because her Dr. gave her fiorecet for headaches and she didn't know it had an opiate in it neither did the Dr. apparently because he knows she is on suboxone.
This whole court battle stems from the baby falling at Target. They told her ex she shopped for 45 minutes after he fell and that they watched her on camera while Chace was lethargic. Krista called me, his other grandmother and her ex right after it happenend, she filed a report with Target and then took the baby to the hospital to be checked. She never was able to get ahold of his father, who had shut his phone off during dinner with his girlfriend, his mother after several attempts finally reached him. Krista was very emotional when she got to the hospital and when her ex showed up with his girlfriend (who Krista had never met) it made matters even worse. I am not claiming my daughter is a saint by any means but when he showed up she wasn't able to keep her emotions under control. Needless to say there was a lot of yelling and security showed up and told them that is they didn't quiet down one of them was going to have to leave. Krista did quiet down and apologized for being loud.
Long story short Chace was fine and he came home with us. The next day her ex went to court an got emergency custody on false allegations.
I know that Chace's father is only trying to protect his son and I get that but a lot of his accusations are untrue. Krista still loves him, they had been teenage sweathearts since they were 17 and she is having a very hard time getting over him. When the split up she was using opiates and he knew,he just chose to ignore it, he never tried to help or encourage her he just threw her and Chace out 3 months before they were to get married.
I'm sorry I'm rambling but I'm scared, Chace is so important to me I don't know what I'm going to do if he wins primary custody. Does that mean we won't be able to see him? Krista has come so far and he keeps knocking her down. All her recent hospital stays have been for depression and anxiety none of them have been for drug use. He verbally abuses her and says the filthiest things to her and of course we can't prove it. My anxiety level is so high right now, I am terrified.
I just needed to vent and if anybody has been through a similar situation I'd love some advice. I know most of you know all the drama I've been through with Krista but she is a good mother and loves her son. I'd just really like to hear your thoughts on this.
